Ryan Smithson

Ryan Smithson, author of Ghosts of War, the true story of his time in came to visit us before the end of the 2009-1010 school year.

Ryan SmithsonRyan spent each period of the day reading passages from his memoir and answering questions from students and teachers about his time as an army engineer in Iraq. He says that writing about what his experiences helps him in his recovery, as well as visiting schools and talking about it. A pizza lunch was offered, and some teachers brought in side dishes of their own. (Jacob really enjoyed Mrs. Clute’s salad, by the way!) Mrs. Gray and Mr. Cardetinno’s global history classes spent their class period in attendance.
